(You use this gold to upgrade your pirate ship.) But the majority of your time is spent fighting, either with sword or pistol.
There is some collecting to do during these scenes, such as kicking open crates to pick up gold. Much of the game takes place on-foot, with Jack squaring off against government troops and bloodthirsty pirates. So, needless to say, Jack Sparrow visits towns, islands, ships, and forts - all drawn quite nicely from an isometric angle. I pointed out Metropolis since everybody that knows word one about the Superman Mythos can take a pretty educated guess that the city will figure heavily into the movie. (I revealed a pretty big spoiler in a review once and received some stinging responses.) I tried to be a little vague about specific scenery in my Superman Returns review for the same reason. As I have not seen the movie yet, I am unsure if mentioning about specific locations or plot points would spoil any surprises in store for theater audiences - and I know people are sensitive to that.
